These days Dutch Fashion is exported throughout the entire world with continuing success. Viktor & Rolf, Marlies Dekkers and Rodrigo Otazu, for example, are well known international names. Furthermore, there are strong Dutch Fashion labels which have been active internationally for many years, such as Mexx, G-Star and Gsus.

Creative City Amsterdam
Amsterdam and the surrounding area burst with creativity. The Amsterdam Area accounts for 25% of those working in the creative sector in the Netherlands, with more than 8,250 Dutch and international companies employing a total of 55,000 people. Amsterdam, together with its region, is establishing itself firmly on the international map as a trend-setting and emerging European fashion city. At the same time the volume of clothing and other fashion articles passing through Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as air cargo is growing. Clearly the city of Amsterdam and the extensive network of Mainport Schiphol complement and enhance each other well.

A young dynamic alternative
Where Paris and Milan represent the traditional couture industry, Amsterdam offers a younger, more dynamic alternative. There is plenty of room for new ideas and fresh thinking. An example is the growing New Luxury segment. This is a new market segment that bridges the top of the premium mainstream and traditional luxury/couture.
