Logistics

Gateway to Europe
Amsterdam Airport Area is a true Gateway to Europe. It is attractively close to all of Europe's major cities and markets. Within a 300-mile radius, there are many other main commercial and industrial centres (London, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, Germany's Ruhr Valley). With Europe's most popular airport at minutes' distance, and almost immediate access to major road, rail and water links, AAA is strategically ideally positioned. Ninety-five per cent of Europe can be reached by truck within 24 hours.

Multimodal Hub
Providing a combination of air, road, rail and water links, Amsterdam Airport Area is a unique multimodal hub. At Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, over 200 international logistics service providers, hauliers, forwarding agents and integrators provide fast, professional services. AAA sits on a fast, modern and high quality road system giving access in all directions. Improvements to intersections and new road extensions mean optimal mobility for private and commercial traffic to all business locations in the Amsterdam Airport Area. Developments of the High Speed Railway Line (HSL), which will have stations at Schiphol as well as Amsterdam centre, will shorten travel time to other major European hubs such as Brussels and Paris and Frankfurt and Munich by 2011. At the same time a feasibility study is currently being conducted on a dedicated freight railway terminal directly south of the cargo areas in the A4 zone for future ongoing transport of air cargo by fast lane or high speed rail. (see ACT)

Synergies are also created by an interconnected Airport-Seaport complex: the Port of Amsterdam is an important port complex, the fifth largest in Northwestern Europe in terms of transhipment tonnage. The Port of Rotterdam is one of the best international seaports in the world and is situated within a 40 mile radius from Schiphol. Many international companies performing their European logistics in AAA make use of both airport and seaport facilities.

Cable connections
Amsterdam Airport Area is one of the major telecommunication and IT regions in Europe, offering an excellent communications infrastructure, including Amsterdam Internet Exchange, the third largest internet hub in the world and the largest on the European continent. Most AAA business locations are linked to top standard high-speed fibre optic networks.
