Business Environment

Netherlands 5th in global business environment rankings
According to the latest business environment rankings from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the Netherlands is in the 5th position for the period 2006-2010 after Denmark, Finland, Canada and Singapore. The global business environment rankings model measures the attractiveness of the business environment and its components--the political and institutional environment, macroeconomic stability, market opportunities, policy towards private enterprise, policy towards foreign investment, the foreign trade and exchange regime, tax system, financing, the labor market and infrastructure.

Favourable tax climate
With its pro-business attitude, the Netherlands strives to make doing business as easy as possible for foreign companies. The Netherlands has a competitive tax regime that stimulates entrepreneurship and foreign investment. While corporate tax rates are similar to those of European neighbours, it has a far-reaching tax treaty network, and offers a system of bonded warehousing, the possibility to conclude advanced tax rulings and a 30% tax ruling for expatriates. Property market
In comparison with other major European business hubs, rents for office and industrial space in Amsterdam Airport Area are modest. This area continues to be the most popular office market in the Netherlands and therefore new real estate projects and business parks are constantly being developed. Costs and contract terms are transparent and generally negotiable. There are many attractive opportunities to rent or acquire fit for use properties.
